Meta has introduced a new line of AI-powered smart glasses, notably featuring a camera-free model aimed at addressing privacy concerns associated with wearable technology. Set to be available from October 13 at a starting price of $349, these audio-only glasses mark a shift in Meta’s approach to user privacy, eliminating the capability to take photos or record videos.

While the new camera-free glasses prioritize privacy, Meta continues to offer smart glasses with cameras, which include features like a visible recording indicator to alert those nearby when recording is in progress. Additionally, the company announced advanced models with display capabilities, priced from $799, which will be rolled out to more international markets.

In its push towards integrating AI into consumer products, Meta also showcased Muse, an AI-powered personal assistant. Muse is designed to assist users by performing tasks such as booking appointments, making calls, and connecting with various services, positioning it as a central component of Meta’s broader AI strategy.

Meta’s innovation doesn’t stop there. The company also previewed lighter mixed-reality glasses, which are expected to launch in spring 2027 at a starting price of $1,299. These glasses will utilize an external battery and memory pack, reflecting Meta’s ongoing investment in the development of advanced wearable technology.

With these launches, Meta underscores its commitment to responding to privacy concerns while simultaneously expanding its AI and wearable technology offerings. The new products are part of a strategic vision to integrate AI into everyday life, potentially altering how consumers interact with technology.
