Russian President Vladimir Putin has dismissed concerns that his country is gearing up for a conflict with Europe, amidst rising tensions with NATO members. In his remarks, Putin stated that Russia has no interest in escalating tensions with European nations and criticized assertions that Moscow is preparing for hostilities.
The Russian leader also mentioned that Russia is contemplating the possibility of resuming peace talks with Ukraine, following recent Ukrainian attacks on Russian soil. Putin noted that Moscow would carefully consider its next steps before deciding whether to re-engage in negotiations.
Despite these diplomatic overtures, Russian airstrikes continue to wreak havoc across Ukraine, resulting in casualties and damage to infrastructure. A recent attack in Kyiv led to the deaths of seven individuals, including a 14-year-old boy, and left dozens injured.
The ongoing conflict has had significant economic repercussions for Ukraine. ArcelorMittal, a major steel producer, has announced the shutdown of its operations at Ukraine’s largest steel plant after repeated Russian strikes damaged the facility and claimed the lives of workers.
