Qatar and Belgium have formalized a partnership to enhance police cooperation through a newly signed memorandum of understanding (MoU). The agreement, aimed at improving security coordination and the exchange of expertise, was signed by Qatar’s Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force, Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, and Belgium’s Minister of Security and Interior, Bernard Quintin. The signing took place during the Milipol Qatar 2026 exhibition.
The primary focus of the MoU is to foster collaboration between Qatar’s Ministry of Interior and Belgium’s Federal Police. This partnership is expected to lead to the sharing of professional expertise and better coordination in security and policing efforts between the two nations. The agreement underscores a mutual commitment to enhancing their security partnership.
Officials from both countries convened to review the current state of bilateral relations and discussed further opportunities for cooperation, particularly in law enforcement and internal security. The MoU represents a strategic move towards strengthening ties in these critical areas of mutual interest.
This development signals a proactive approach by Qatar and Belgium to bolster their respective internal security frameworks through international cooperation. The agreement is a significant step in aligning efforts to tackle shared challenges in policing and security.
